Only good for plants...
Being the novice I was when I was about 12 I "rescued" 2 bettas from a Pets Mart and put them both into separate cheap tiny little novelty tanks and that's how they lived for about a year and a half until I bought my third one and put him into a 5 gallon tank. I instantly noticed the difference!
My 3rd Betta was flying all over the place he was noticeably happier responded faster (in a non-aggressive way) when I'd come near the tank and he lived for a little more than 3 and a half years! My other two barely made it to 2 years. They were depressed uninterested slow to respond...everything you don't want your Betta to be. And once I moved them into larger 3 gallon tanks each they perked up like none other!
Betta's need to be in 3-10 gallon tanks by themselves (5 or larger and you might be able to add compatible fish though I wasn't willing to risk it). In the wild they live in rice paddies which are thousands of gallons of swimming space and naturally aerated and filtered and only live in "small puddles" for about 2 or 3 months (at most) out of the year during the dry season.
What's more while Wild bettas may be able to take smaller conditions longer and survive better the fancy bettas we see in the stores today are not nearly as durable or hardy and need more stimulation and space.
This "tank" has no filtration has little space for the Betta and isn't much better than the initial cup they come in. I'd use it for water plants; less cruel and easier to tend to and it would look just as pretty!
For a Betta...no. It's just cruel to confine a fish no matter how small into that sort of an environment for extended periods of time.

love these little wall mount bowls!
so i bought one a while ago for my female betta set it up and fell in love. i love it! i have 2 cats so it was important to me to find something easy to use and easy to keep away from kitties. i loved it so much i just ordered 2 more for 2 other betta fish. the cats love to watch them but still cant get to them! theyre really easy to mount (it took me 3 mins with my power drill to get a screw in the wall and hang it) and theyre easily removed for cleaning. havent had any leaking problems with it either. i would definitely recommend this to anybody who has kids or cats (even any other pets) and wants a betta fish. its the perfect safe solution!

Little Mermaid Aquarium
Adorable colorful fun convenient. Bought this as a gift for my best friend's beta fish. She absolutely loves it. It comes with really cool thin plastic pieces to change the lights color to blue or red. Overall a great tank for small fish and a great buy.

Almost great aquarium
I have owned this aquarium for 3 years now. It looks great sitting on my kitchen counter. I could have been more consistent about cleaning the system (about 1x a month) but generally speaking the fish have thrived. Several mistakes I made include: 1) thinking that the bio-wheel needs to be occasionally replaced (don't go there) 2) leaving the light on too much which created an algae bloom and 3) buying fish that outgrow this small aquarium. I made those mistakes in the first year. Since then it has been smooth sailing except for the light fixture burning out. The light switch is pretty cheap so repeated use caused it to break. I rigged up another lighting system since I was not able to order a replacement part except for the whole lid unit (which costs as much as the aquarium) but it is not very satisfactory. I am breaking down and buying another aquarium just to get a functioning light. This time I am going to hook up the light to a timer and avoid overusing the switch.

Very nice little tank
I bought the Nemo for my son and the Ariel for my daughter. They both wanted a pet so we figured a fish would be the best for now. We saw these on the disney site (if you catch them at the right time of the month you can get it for half off the retail and cheaper shipping).
Great little design no leaks filter is cute and relatively functional however the air pump is not very stable and is prone to falling over and making a loud vibrating noise. It seems to want to follow the hose so make sure you position the hose well.
The tank includes almost everything you need EXCEPT gravel. So when your kids open it up looking for it you will need to come up with a good excuse (or after reading this review buy it and have it ready). Food water conditioner decoration lights etc. are all included. Make sure to rinse everything very well. Be careful not to use any soap as the residue may kill anything you put into the tank. A good thorough rinse should do the trick. Then try to fill the tank and let it run for a couple of days before adding a fish (we put one Beta in each tank and they are both doing very well). The acrylic is very clear and the cover is VERY good for keeping toys hands etc. out of the tank. I did not give it five stars because of the pump and the lack of gravel. Even still I would have given 4.5 stars if it were available as the gravel is not such a big deal (don't forget to rinse it VERY VERY well before adding it into the tank).

Too Small!!!
First of all bettas JUMP. I don't see good outcomes. My female jumps ALL the time. My males are nutorious for jumping at the wrong times (ex: While I'm changing their tank)
The size is WAY too small for even bettas. The bare minimum for bettas is a gallon and even then if you can upgrade please do!
I would invest in at least a gallon size tank. Please don't be cruel! Look around the internet for REAL instructions on how to take care of your betta. Your betta well thank you for it!!!

Great little aquarium
This is a great starter aquarium. Order a book or two about having fish when you order the aquarium too and wait a week before getting fish.
In years past you'd have all sorts of work with the filters and such. With the bio-wheel that comes with this tank your only work is to occasionally replace the "physical filter" and do a partial water change. That's it! The tank also comes with a beautiful light that'll really make your fish shine.
You will need some gravel too and some plants and maybe a stone or two for the fish to hide behind. The gravel and such are best picked up at your local pet store. Start out with plastic plants rather than live plants; you'll have plenty to do anyway.
In my experience things are easier if you have a heater too. The fish likes the water temperature to be constant. I've been using a 150w heater with good success in this tank.
Let the tank run with the heater for a day or two to get the temperature stable. When you add your first fish start out with just a few small fish (actually in a 12 gallon tank you should always only have small fish little tetras and such -- don't worry they are beautiful) to get the bio-wheel going. Your books will explain it but it takes some time for the biological processes to get going in the tank and keep things in balance so the water can get poisonous quickly for your fish if you add too many. (Get a packet of test strips to test the water quality daily -- it's just when you get started later the bio-wheel will keep things steady unless you keep too many fish in the tank).
I can also recommend getting another tank maybe a 3 gallon tank to keep new fish in before they go in the main tank. (Of course that only works if you keep small fish with bigger fish the 12 gallon tank would be your quarantine tank...) :-)
Good luck!
